Anna Rooke was the founding CEO of QUT Creative Enterprise Australia (CEA) and led the organisation for over a decade. Under her leadership, CEA established and expanded its offerings to include accelerator programs, the Coterie, Creative3 and the CEA Startup Fund.
The CEA Startup Fund started its journey in 2013 and is Australia’s first early stage fund for creative ventures in Australia. Anna took a hands-on management of the portfolio including the role as Chairman of Fame & Partners Pty Ltd until February 2016, supporting the company from startup through to Series A investment.
Anna has over 20 years’ experience leading commercialisation, incubation and business development initiatives in Australia and the UK, and has worked with companies spanning the fields of biotechnology, information technology, and the creative industries. Prior to her relocation to Australia in 2006, she was the Director of the UK’s first National Science City and created the first $1m ‘proof of principle’ fund in Yorkshire to enable entrepreneurs to exploit their commercial potential.
Anna is passionate about building a vibrant and scalable creative industries sector in Australia. In July 2018, she was appointed as the Managing Director of the Creative Tech Ventures Fund and as a Non-Executive Director of CEA’s Board.
Anna is also a member of the Advance Queensland Expert Panel, Queensland Startup Committee and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
