What is creative tech?

Creative tech combines technology, psychology, art and design to help create more immersive, entertaining, personalised, multi-sensory experiences. This connects the physical and digital world in completely new ways by creating immersive and integrated experiences that are changing and disrupting the way people interact.

Examples of creative tech include multi-sensory experiences made using computer graphics, new media art, virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D printing, the Internet of Things and wearable technology.

Is my idea or solution relevant to creative tech?

We encourage cross cutting ideas across a wide range of areas including art, fashion, screen, advertising, product design, digital media, multimedia, games, computing, robotics, engineering and electronics.

This Startup Weekend is designed to collide new ways of combining creative and technical skills to create cross-disciplinary business ideas in a fun and interactive way.

Different examples of creative tech companies include Shoes of Prey, Metaverse Makeovers, Shapeways, Holition, Ringly, Oculus Rift and many others.

About Startup Weekend

QUT Creative Enterprise Australia has partnered with Startup Weekend, a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. The hardest part of starting up is starting out. At Startup Weekend, you’ll be immersed in the ideal environment for startup magic to happen.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas and then it’s a 54-hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekend culminates with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders offering another opportunity for critical feedback.
