5 Designers You Need To Know Now
QUT Creative Enterprise Australia (CEA) is set to unveil the five faces shaking up Australian fashion on August 18.
Lorraine White (Whitelane), Kathrin Bonfigt (Miss Summer), Evie Willsteed (Genkstasy), Alexandra Coleborn (Gloria Dulcie) and Tahlia Bowie (Bowie Empire) are the five names who will headline an event by CEA’s Fashion Accelerator.
They will showcase their ranges before a cohort of industry judges including Lydia Pearson, Amanda Coote, John Condilis, Cameron Votan and Michel Abeysekera.
The event will take place at Mirra Private Dining and Events later this month.
Fashion development manager Thuy Nguyen says that the designers who were born out of this program have shown incredible potential.
“What I have seen come from this talented group of fashion entrepreneurs is nothing short of inspirational and I know that they’re going to make their mark as they present their range at our runway event.
“CEA’s Fashion Accelerator program continues to be an industry leader in opening doors to introduce early fashion businesses to potential investors, partners and industry networks. This event will launch the future of these exciting brands – all with a unique offering to the current market.
“I can’t wait to show the rest of Australia what they’ve achieved and to see them grow from this experience nationally and beyond our waters,” Nguyen said.
The designer collections range from boutique corsetry and sustainable surfwear to ungendered Japanese hip-hop inspired streetwear and unisex indigenous looks.
