Colin has previously run a successful startup incubator and a seed stage venture capital fund, and held senior positions in the commercialisation arms of The University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and Imperial College London. He has coached and trained many founders of technology-based businesses. He is an experienced company director, a regular speaker and lecturer on startups and innovation, and provides mentoring to a number of local startups through incubators and co-working spaces such as River City Labs.
Colin is a Co-organiser of the Silicon Beach Brisbane meetup group whose 1,300 members represent the core of Brisbane’s startup community, and Investment Manager for the CEA Startup Fund. qutcea.com/startup-fund/
Sarah has extensive experience in communications within the Australian and international startup communities. Her previous roles in include working with the Unreasonable Institute and Stanford d.school to partner with Google, Nike, SAP and X-Box to run “Unreasonable at Sea” – a technology accelerator on a ship that sailed through 16 countries. She is also a cofounder of Girl Geek Academy – a global organisation teaching 1 million women to get into tech and launch their own startups by 2025. GGA has hosted Australia’s first all-female hackathon (#SheHacks), makerfest (#SheMakes) and game development program (#SheMakes_Games).
