Fashion Accelerator Workshop Series: Pattern Grading to Maintain Style Proportions

“ Master the shaping and sizing industry with bespoke grading methods I’ve spent years refining ” – Thuy Nguyen
Facilitated by Thuy Nguyen, QUT Creative Enterprise Australia’s Fashion Development Manager, this workshop is designed to give participants a clearer practical understanding of grading to ensure proportions and aesthetic values of designs are maintained.
Participants will be introduced to the practice of analysing a design and specifically allocating increments to suit the purpose and style, the ideal target market it was intended for and the sizing structure chosen. Comparisons will also be made with the current standardised grading and evaluation of the outcomes.
This workshop comes as a package. To ensure sessions run smoothly, participants must be able to attend both sessions. Both workshops run from 10am to 3pm and includes 30min break at 12.30pm for lunch
– Workshop 1: Saturday 26th August 2017
– Workshop 2: Sunday 27th August 2017
Participants are required to supply their own pattern making equipment namely a grading ruler (preferable in metric), French curve, pacer and leads, eraser, fine red and blue pen, notebook and paper scissors.
Our Facilitator – Thuy Nguyen
Thuy Nguyen has over 20 years of experience in the apparel industry and has a particular interest in the areas of Garment and Product Development. She is passionate about the quality and fit of garments and continuously strive to bring forth the best techniques and solutions for a most ideal outcome in every piece created.
Thuy champions her role at QUT Creative Enterprise Australia as Fashion Development Manager, preparing early and emerging Fashion brands through various CEA Fashion Accelerator Programs.
