How creative entrepreneurs turn ideas into invoices

Creative entrepreneurs are blessed with an inundation of brilliant ideas.

The challenge is backing up brilliant ideas with business and finance know-how.

Our solution… The Creative Business Workshop: from ideas to invoices

On August 25th The Coterie hosted a creative business workshop to guide participants on creating and running their own business. It was targeted at creative entrepreneurs working on a project or business, and freelancers who wished to develop their business skills. Cheese was eaten, intros were made and our experts shared their experiences.

The workshop was facilitated by Cynthia Macnee, CEA’s Executive Manager Business Development, and included presentations from Cole Wilkinson from Pitcher Partners, and guest speaker, Matt Cooper, from Alpha Digital.

Above: A slide from Matt Cooper’s presentation.

Matt had us all captivated as he talked about living on rice and tuna for the first year and working 70+ hour weeks. Why? So he didn’t need to take on outside investment for his digital marketing company. Cynthia mapped out the true value of Australia’s creative economy – a $90 billion national contribution is certainly nothing to sneeze at!
